Chairman’s Update : May 2018

Hello All

I am currently finalizing plans for the renewal of tennis courts 7-9 with our LTA surveyor and speaking with various contractors.

I recently played my one squash game of the year in the club tournament, which I enjoyed, but more importantly saw how many of our members participated and enjoyed their games. Thank you Kyri for organizing the event.

Kyri is currently finalizing new squash coaching and social plans; he will be working with our existing and potentially new coaches to have all in place by September.

I am very pleased that Bridget Arik has joined the club committee to look after membership and subscriptions.

We recently recruited a lady to look after marketing, but unfortunately for personal reasons has had to step down. As a result, we are once again looking, please let me know if any candidates come to mind.

Jordan is currently rushed off his feet coaching, going into schools, planning summer school fairs, and his camps.
He really needs some help organizing the Grade 3 Open tennis tournament, Sunday 5th – Friday 10th August and the Club Open Days, Friday 6th, Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th July.
These are very important events in our club diary and I would ask as many of you as possible to step forward and support us.

Jordan has arranged for all members (squash and tennis) to play in a parent /child (over 18) tournament on Sunday 3rd June. All are welcome, and you can invite non-members as well. Please speak to Jordan for more details.

We have recently been revisiting the club’s food offering (or lack of) and would appreciate feedback as to whether there is an appetite for match suppers and teas to be offered by the club going forward, and for food to be available during the day and in the evenings.
If we went ahead with a greater offering, we would need to make some changes to our current club arrangements.

I would like to remind all club members that if they bring visitors to the club a £5 visitor fee is payable for Adults and £2.50 for Juniors (6 visits per year).
To make this easy, there are Visitor envelopes and pens on the foyer notice board; please place your payment inside, write your name and your guest’s and post the envelope through the office internal letterbox.

I am very pleased to announce that Clare Sugarman has been appointed to oversee Laura Collins on the welfare front at the club. Clare's son Alfie is one of our up and coming Junior performance Tennis players; welcome on board.
