TENNIS UPDATE:

Success for RLTSC at LTA Grade 3 Tournament

The recent LTA Grade 3 tournament held at RLTSC was a resounding success on several fronts.

Dina and Chris secured the Open Mixed Doubles title, while Rocco captured the 16U Singles’ crown and finished runner-up in the Doubles. Well done also to Lake, who finished third in the 8U Singles and won the Fair Play trophy.

Congratulations to all our winners in an event that featured 350 players from around the country. And another big thank you to all our wonderful volunteers!

Slight change in schedule for tennis court and grounds maintenance

Due to personal circumstances, our groundsman Sean can no longer come to the club first thing in the morning. From September 8, he will be doing the court brushing, debris clearing and general maintenance around lunchtime/early afternoon. You will therefore see some courts booked out for 'maintenance' over the lunchtime period, and there may be more debris on the courts in the mornings (particularly during the autumn months) than you are used to! Please be patient and accepting. Thank you.

Sunday Morning Adult Social Tennis – volunteer needed

Tennis Courts 1 to 4 are booked every Sunday morning between 9am and 12 noon for social tennis. This is not coach-led and has never been. The attendance is variable which is such a shame since this session has been running for years and was very well attended in the past.

We are therefore asking if a member will volunteer to oversee this social session? Other clubs have member-led socials that are very popular. If you are interested in seeing this session become what it used to be, then please let the office know – admin@rltsc.co.uk.

Summer Camps

Our holiday camps have come to an end - it’s been a busy summer with plenty of attendees.

Tennis school will be restarting from September 8 - all adult groups have continued throughout the holiday periods, with majority of them being hugely popular throughout.

With our midweek match season coming to a close, we will now be resuming our Team Training sessions, running on Thursdays 7-8pm, starting from September 11.

There are still matches running throughout the autumn and winter months, and it’s never too late to put your name down if you are interested in getting involved.

A reminder of the adult coaching sessions we have running at the club are as follows:

Monday 7:30-8:30pm - Rusty Rackets

Tuesday 11-12pm - Rusty Rackets

Tuesday 7:30-8:30pm - Dynamic Drills

Thursday 7-8pm - Team Training

Thursday 8-9pm - Cardio Drills

Friday 8:45-9:45am - Cardio Tennis

Alongside all these coaching sessions, we have our popular social sessions running on the following days:

Wednesday 9:30-10:30am – Over-60’s Social Tennis

Wednesday 7-9pm - Adult Social

Thursday 9:30-11am - Coffee morning Social

Saturday 2-4pm - Adult Social

Sunday 9:30-12 noon - Adult Social

A huge thank you again goes to all club volunteers who have helped throughout the summer with our Grade 3 tournament at the beginning of August, ensuring the competition was a great success once again, and a showcase for how fantastic our club is!

And also to all other volunteers and members for all they do to keep our club in such fantastic shape throughout!

TEAM TENNIS

Almost all matches from Summer Team Tennis across three leagues - Hot Rackets, Herts League and WDTL - have been played now and end-of-season division results are almost complete.

Huge thanks to all our captains who ran their teams in these leagues and associated back office support.

Well done to everyone who played matches – the general feel was everyone enjoyed some great tennis and plenty of social interaction too!

The Winter Leagues begin in autumn, so please keep an eye out for details if you are keen to continue to play matches - or are new to Radlett and would like to play.

For next summer season we are still looking for one or two players to captain teams.

Speak to Danine Irwin, Alison Argyle or the club office if you’d like more info regarding any team tennis matter.
