TENNIS UPDATE

Adult Tennis Coaching

Our new Adult coaching programme will be in full flow after the Easter holiday period. With a clear pathway going forwards for all players, there is something for everyone to access in our programme.

Starting off with our Rusty Rackets sessions on Monday evenings from 7.30- 8.30pm and also a Tuesday morning group from 11am-12 noon - these are the perfect sessions for Adults with little to no tennis experience looking to gain an understanding of technique and tactics that they can use to play socially.

The next step in the pathway will be our Dynamic Drills sessions - these currently run on Tuesday evenings from 7.30-8.30pm and are for Adults looking to challenge themselves, with high-tempo drills to improve their matchplay tactics, helping players to feel ready to compete.

Moving on next to our Team Tennis , this session will now be running throughout the year and is for adults competing or wanting to compete regularly, with a mixture of advanced Singles and Doubles drills, building knowledge and confidence to improve results.

All of these sessions can be complimented alongside our Cardio Tennis sessions that run throughout the week on Thursday evenings from 8-9pm and Friday mornings from 8.45am-9.45am.

All our coaching sessions in the Adult programme will be running throughout holiday periods starting from May half-term onwards - meaning that you can get your fix of coaching throughout all holiday periods going forwards without any interruptions!

All sessions will be priced at £5 per person across the Adult coaching sessions going forwards.

Annual Tennis Club Championships

Our Annual Tennis Club Championships is now online for competitors to book via MyCourts, please book on before the deadline to ensure your place in the draw. You have to be in it to win it!

Junior Tennis

Our new Junior Pathway will also come into full swing after the Easter holidays.

Starting off with our Beginner groups , then moving on up to our Future Stars sessions before finally moving into our Club Performance and Elite Performance sessions, there is once again something for everyone going forwards across all age groups in the programme.

A huge well done to Radlett’s Noah and Dina, who both represented Hertfordshire Under-18’s county last weekend, helping the boys and girls teams with some big performances and victories along the way, with Head Coach Chris captaining the boys' team in Liverpool.

Our Easter Holiday Camps are fast approaching. If you haven’t already booked your space do so now via the link below:

Our popular Junior Social sessions will also be restarting after the Easter holidays - Fridays 4-6pm and free if you’re a member! Book now via the website to enjoy fun-filled sessions with games galore (and don’t forget about the pizza halfway through too!).

With the sun starting to shine and the weather starting to warm up, what better way to spend a Friday afternoon, and your parents can also get involved too! With the bar open it’s the perfect opportunity to kick back and relax with a drink in the sun, while our coaches tire out the kids for a few hours!

Team Matches:

Team matches are starting up! If you’re free and want to come down to support the teams in their matches and enjoy watching some tennis in the sun with a drink, keep an eye out on our social media pages for updates on matches being played in the evenings and weekends.

Coaching Team Update:

We are sad to announce our Performance Coach, Dido will be leaving us. Dido joined in September 2022 and has been leading our performance programme at the club over the last few years. We are very sad to see him go and wish him and his family all the best on their new adventure as they are moving to Italy!

External events in 2025

As well as the regular LTA Grade 5 events run by Gal-on (which happen every couple of months or so and use four astro courts on Sunday afternoons), the club will host the following external events in 2025:

Herts Schools finals – Monday, June 23 - Nicola Mabbitt Trophy

The aim of Herts Schools Tennis is to encourage tennis in schools by offering a range of competitive opportunities for players of all ages and abilities. Competitions are doubles and round-robin and are structured by age and experience so that everyone enjoys them.

We are delighted to be hosting the Finals of the Nicola Mabbitt trophy which is for players in Years 8, 9 and 10. There are six separate Leagues: Year 8, Year 9 and Year 10, Boys and Girls with schools divided into local areas. The winners of the local Leagues are then invited to play the winners of the other Leagues in the Finals event.

This will take place on Monday, June 23 and will use all nine astro courts from 9am to 3.30pm.

Radlett Open Grade 3: August 3-9, 2025

This is early notice that we will be running the Radlett Open Grade 3 again this year, with the dates confirmed as Sunday, August 3 to Saturday, August 9 inclusive.

This year the tournament will likely have full use of courts 1-9 inclusive, as we did last year.

We will send reminders nearer the time, confirming what courts will be available to members on the above dates. We appreciate some members may consider these tournaments an inconvenience, but they do help our club’s status and finances, and give some of our members a chance to play in such prestigious events on home ground.

SQUASH UPDATE:

An in-depth round-up of the annual RLTSC Squash Championships will be posted soon.

SOCIAL UPDATE:

RADLETT SPRING QUIZ

Hello Quizzers,

We are pleased to advise that we will be having another of our popular quiz evenings on Thursday, April 24. This time we have tried to avoid Fridays and, as much as possible school holidays, so expect the usual good uptake. As previously, we shall be including a fish and chips (or similar) meal within the ticket price of £15.

A separate email shall follow to allow easy sign up.

Look forward to seeing you in April!

We hope you’ve enjoyed this edition of RLTSC News and we look forward to bringing you further updates from within and around the Club in another round-up soon.
