Winter Court Bookings – Monday to Friday.
The Tennis Committee have been looking at the best way forward for members and coaches to be able to book courts for the benefit of everybody.
The object of this exercise is to ensure that court usage is maximized at all times so that coaches can respond to the demands of growing, healthy numbers of members and groups wanting tuition, whilst the needs of social players are catered for.
We have decided that courts 4-6 should be available from 4 till 9pm for coaching/tennis schools (and these will need to be booked out by the coaches; during this time and outside these hours members can book courts 1-3. The reality is that from around 3.00 in the winter, the courts must be booked to enable the floodlights to come on.
Coaches will be entitled to book 1-3, if they are available within 24 hours. To illustrate this, a member requesting a private lesson on a Thursday evening at 7 o’clock, with group lessons going on in 4-6, will enable the coach to then book any of 1,2 or 3 on Wednesday after 7 o’clock.
Whilst we would remind members that they should be booking courts at all times, from 9 till 3 it is important that they can just turn up and play on any available courts and can request the coaches to use 7-9 or 11-12, should all 6 be in use (albeit unlikely).
We will review this policy at the end of October but, in the meantime, feel free to contact me if you have any issues.
I’m arranging for courts 2 & 5 to have both hanging to service 1-3 and 4-6 respectively that we will ask members & coaches (after lowering for juniors) to return nets to the standard position before taking back after use. Juniors are respectfully reminded not to use the posts as light sabres!
During Wednesday and Saturday social tennis we would be grateful if the balls, given by the coach, are either given back, if late in the session either to the coach or bar staff, or handed to players coming onto court. Coaches will then determine whether they are good enough for future sessions as members should not expect to take home new balls for private use, albeit to play at the club.
Thank you for your understanding.
